Soroti: Fred Amaku scored twice as Maroons FC blew away Ateker FC in front of their own fans in Soroti City Stadium.
The woes of Ateker started with Amaku's 25th minute thriller, he added more salt to their wounds only three minutes later to double the lead.
What was special about this second finish was that it was a more straight-forward, Hadad pulling a cross back for the Amaku to tuck under a weak right hand from Tusubira and inside the post. For Ateker, there was no way out.
The hosts' gained momentum half wa
y of the game but could not get a break through through many wasted efforts, credit to Maroons goalie Amir Nalugoda who kept his game on top form till the end.
In the last 10 minutes of the game, the final goal was such a spectacular one from Abraham Tusubira, who started the move in his own half, leaping over one challenge while dodging one after the other.
He took the ball back and drove down the right wing, away from three Ateker opponents and inside.
Abraham twice played off Walusimbi, the second time after pacing forward into the penalty area, where he darted between two last Ateker defenders and slid the finis
h into the top far corner in the 84th minute giving the visitors a 0-3 away victory at stopage time.
The win now means that Maroons FC have qualified to the last 16 of the Uganda Cup as draws awaits next week.
Focus is now shifted to FUFA BIG LEAGUE match day 15, Mbale based Kataka FC will be hosted at Luzira Prisons Stadium on the 6th March before a long travel to Lira to face Blacks Power on the 10th of the same month.
