Maroons Football Club have secured an immediate return to Uganda Premier League for the 2022/23 season, earning automatic promotion after a two-year absence.
The Luzira based side ensured a top-three finish in the FUFA BIG LEAGUE with a 5-0 away win over already relegated Nyamityobora FC at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara City.
Maroons began the FUFA Big League campaign with eleven wins from their twenty matches, had only four defeats and five draws between October and April.

2/23 Uganda Premier League football season is set to feature the return of Fred Amaku, who has finished the FUFA Big League as a top scorer netting 15 times winning a golden boot and Startimes Kit.
There will also be a return to the competition for Maroons Skipper Silvester Okello who has captained the team for close to a decade now.

Maroons FC remains one the most traditional and historical football clubs in Uganda. Founded in 1965, it won the first two Ugandan Premeir League titles in 1968 and 1969 under Peter Okee (RIP) as head coach, becoming the first team to represent Uganda in an international competition i.e 1970 Clubs African Cup of Champions.
The club declined performance during the 1980s and suffered their first relegation blow in 1987.
They qualified back to the top division under the stewardship of Asaph Mwebaze in 2007 before suffering a relegation set back in 2009.
They are three times champions of the FUFA Big League in the 2010s, gaining back to back promotion to the Ugandan Premier League each time they surface.
Their most recent promotion came in the 2017/2018 football season. Maroons' players and fans will be eagerly waiting for the release of the 2022/23 Premier League fixtures in August ahead of the opening week of the campaign in September.
