MAROONS FC ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Maroons FC has officially announced that Mr. Rodrick Muhumuza will become the new Chief Executive Officer of the Club, effective Wednesday 25th January 2023.

The club mutually parted ways with Pius Bamwange on the 24th January 2023.

While speaking to maroonsfc.co.ug, Rodrick said, “I am so honoured to have the chance to serve this great historical club and its ever growing fan base. I am determined to return that honour in any way possible that I can within my reach.”

ge task awaits me here. The club is growing so fast and our main task is to make Maroons one of the biggest brands of football in Uganda and beyond. I am gracefully embracing this challenge and I absolutely look forward to positive results,”

Maroons FC therefore appreciates Mr. Pius Bamwange for his tireless work during his 3 years at the Club since 2020.

From today on wards, Maroons FC will be closely working with Rodrick and his leadership team opening a new phase in the club’s evolution process, with ambitious plans for marketing, communications and professionalizing all aspects of football at the Club, strengthening our strong en
gagement with the fans and continued drive towards our most important objective of winning on the pitch.

Why Rodrick Muhumuza?

Rodrick is a graduate of Business Administration and Management. He holds a Diploma in Management of Olympics Sports Organisations by the International Olympics Committee, International Coaches Managerial Entrenchment Program from the University of Delaware - USA, Sports Administrators Course by Uganda Olympics Committee among other capacity building courses both in Sports and Managerial related fields.

A holder of the treasured FUFA Football Administration and Management Course Certificate, Muhumuza is also endowed and well positioned with the crucial working experience.

Under his tenure as the technical director of the Uganda Rowing Federation, Uganda managed to produce her first competitor in Rowing, Kathleen Noble during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games recently where the nation finished on a high note with him being part of the contingent showing how the sport’s potential started blossoming. He contributed to the development and populizing Rowing across Uganda where he has now served for 7 years from 2015 upto date.

As the General Secretary of Uganda Prisons Handball Club, the team dominated the game of Handball for the past decade winning back to back trophies at both national and regional levels. He also served as the General Secretary of the Playing and Rules Commission under the Uganda Handball Federation.

He was recently elected in as an interim Chairperson of Maroons Fans Association, having for long steered the formation of an independent Fans Club and supporters base nationally, a franchise that is in it's initial growing stages. Upon his appointment in the office of CEO, he resigned from the fans leadership as election of Executive Committee Members awaits in March this year.

Maroons' Board is delighted that Rodrick has accepted his new role as the C.E.O. The Club is confident that his passion for football, his knowledge of Maroons' brand and inner workings, wealth of experience and his relationships with key stakeholders will help him guide our club reach greater heights.

His appointment takes into consideration the long term sustainability of the team in top flight football. It is only through ensuring sustainable and economically viable operations, that Maroons FC can be strongly supported and create value for all stakeholders in football.
